I had never heard of this place back when it was still a little mom and pop shop. But it got some attention when a local conglomerate bought it for S$4 million (US$2.8 million) in order to build up a chain across the island. With a price tag like that, I got my hopes up that its
char siew might be something as heavenly as the one from
Meng Kee in KL. Unfortunately, it wasn't anything as candied and fatty as that. It wasn't anything memorable, to be honest, nor was the duck or roast pork. I don't think I'll be going back.
